Fri 5 July 11.30am – 3pm (includes lunch break and performance at 2:30pm)

Come and join The Australian Ballet Education team at WPACC for a week-long school holiday workshop. Explore the world of ballet and co-create your own dance work to perform at the end of the week.

The workshop includes contemporary warmups, dance exercises and choreographic games. Elements such as costume design, music and storytelling through dance will be discussed. Individual needs/skill levels are addressed as you work on choreographic movement.

At 2.30pm on the Friday, families and friends are invited to watch the students perform their work on stage in the Theatre.  This will be followed by a performance of Plain Jane by The Australian Ballet Education team and both of these are free of charge.  Plain Jane tells the story of a young girl resisting the expectations of society and talks to ‘resilience’ – an important concept for young people to understand. This 20-minute contemporary-ballet duet addresses themes of personal identity and peer pressure and is suited to students of all levels. Join Jane on a journey of transformation as she decides that she doesn’t need to be Cinderella to be awesome.

The children that participated in this workshop last year said it was an experience they would never forget.

Please download a Registration Form which you will need to complete and hand into the Box Office once you have purchased your tickets.
